Canucks are heading towards the All Star break in pretty good shape. 3 straight wins over Eastern Conference opponents with 1 more test vs an elite team remaining as Vancouver challenges the Tampa Bay Lightning. In the words of coach Willie D this will be “aahhh real good test” for these Canucks as the Lightning were one of the first teams this year to expose the lack of foot speed with this group back in October.

Revenge on Roberto? Russell has all the feels

Well that was something. To attempt to recap the madness that was the final 4 minutes and OT of the Packers/Seahawks NFC championship would take an incredible effort. So rather then focus on that let’s try and sum it up. The Seahawks offense was mostly dormant for 56 minutes and then went off and sparked one of the greatest comebacks in NFL playoff history.

A game vs a tired Flyers squad was just what the doctor ordered for a struggling Canucks group. Philly coming of a 1-0 loss to the Capitals, down their #1 goalie and generally having a tough year were served up for Vancouver and the Canucks for their part took advantage.

They are who we thought they were! Canucks at the mid way mark

41 games gone and 41 games to go for this years edition of the Vancouver Canucks. That gives us enough sample size to have a good, honest look at exactly what this team can do. A great start to the year has made this recent slide (15 goals in 8 games since Christmas, 2-4-0 in the new year, 3 straight regulation losses) somewhat easier to digest. Unfortunately, if you asked me what my biggest concerns were after last season, they are the same trouble spots that still exist in this franchise.
