The holiday season is officially upon us,

so we stopped by Kaos Kids Toy Store in Squamish

to see what’s on everyone’s wishlist!

When you first walk in the toy store, your eyes don’t know where to go first. There are toys from floor to ceiling, front to back! We weren’t sure how to navigate that many, and no clue how figure out what kids are drooling over this year. Naturally, we turned to Marie-Louise Towers, local business owner of Kaos Kids to help us out!

Towers took us on a tour of the shop. This year, she says, traditional toys are making a comeback: “I’ve definitely this year seen a return to classics, like trains, and dollhouses and kitchens with play food and dolls”. As we were mulling around the store, Towers emphasized sales in puzzles spike around the holiday season. She says people like to keep traditions and puzzles seem to fall into that category. Demonstrating the return of the classics, one mom came in looking for a jack-in-the-box for her 8 year old son!

Why are we seeing this resurgence?

Towers says, “Parents want to make an investment, where their child is developing their brain a bit, getting their creativity going, and using their imagination. Some of the games that we have in the store are cooperative, so they learn to work together”.
