The Squamish Food Bank is holding their annual Thanksgiving Food Drive tomorrow.

Volunteers have been distributing bags to resident’s properties all week with the goal of having those bags filled with non perishable food items for the Food Bank. Volunteers will collect the bags on Saturday and take them to the Food Bank for sorting.

Food Bank Manager Christina Rupp says they could still use some help tomorrow for the sorting of items. Rupp says it’s great fun; “it’s not rocket science, there’s a lot of date checking of cans just to make sure nothings gone past it’s expiry date.” Lunch and snacks will be provided to volunteers.

The Food Bank is looking for items such as; canned vegetables, low sodium soups, pasta sauce, canned meat, canned fish, and they also accept fresh produce from gardens.

Last year 8,000lbs of food was brought in from the event. More information can be found at SquamishFoodBank.com.
