As of November 1st, 2016; gypsum (drywall), mattresses and yard waste will no longer be accepted at the Pemberton transfer station.

Pemberton residents will now be directed to take these items to the Whistler Transfer Station. The Squamish-Lillooet Regional District (SLRD) says the change was made due to safety requirements, excessive operational costs, and space limitations.

The SLRD also says tipping fees are being changed to better reflect increased transportation and disposal costs. In September a bylaw was amended to increase tipping fees in response to recent fee increases at facilities operated by the Resort Municipality of Whistler and District of Squamish, and to provide updated definitions to reflect current regulations.
