The Britannia Beach Volunteer Fire Department is looking for new recruits.

Fire Chief David Rittberg says they’re looking for community members who would like to serve on the 100% volunteer fire department. “We will supply all training required to meet the provincial playbook standard, which all departments train too… I think a lot of people in the community want to help their neighbours, sometimes they don’t know what to do and we will teach you.”

The department serves the communities of Britannia Beach, Furry Creek and Porteau Cove.

Volunteers would be required to attend weekly training and to respond to emergency and non-emergency calls. Interested residents have until the beginning of January to sign up, as training starts January 18th 2017 for the new recruits.
