A 14 year-old boy fell from a chair lift at Whistler-Blackcomb at the weekend.

At approximately 10:40am on December 3rd a snowboarder slipped and fell from the Emerald Express Chair on Whistler Mountain. The boy fell from the chair just below lift tower number three.

Lift attendants stopped the lift and were able to use rescue equipment to catch the snowboarder as he fell towards the ground. Whistler-Blackcomb Ski Patrol attended the scene and transported the boy to Whistler Medical Centre.

The resort says that the chair’s restraining bar was not lowered at the time of the incident.
