RCMP on the Sunshine Coast are reporting an odd incident that occurred early Saturday morning at BC Ferries’ Langdale terminal.

Ferry staff alerted police to an SUV that had smashed through the locked security gates and was speeding towards the closed terminal at around 1:30 AM. Police say the Chevy Blazer then drove to the upper loading deck through several other barriers and gates, and attempted to board the ferry by launching the vehicle off the raised ramp towards the upper car deck of the Queen of Surrey which was docked at the time.

Police say the vehicle landed on the upper car deck of the ship, and the male driver uninjured, exited the vehicle. The driver then got off the ferry and attempted to steal two staff vehicles that were parked in the terminal parking lot.

Twenty five year old Chase Campbell, a local to the Sunshine Coast was arrested and charged with 13 offences including Impaired Driving, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Break and Enter, Assault of a Police Officer, Mischief over $5000 and Driving while Prohibited.
