Police in Squamish say a local charity has become the victim of fraud.

RCMP received a report on August 25th saying a number of stolen cheques were used to take money from the charity’s bank account. The non-profit’s staff noticed several cheques were missing from the office and then observed several thousand dollars had been removed from their account.

Authorities did not release the name of the charity that was the subject of the fraud. Police have identified a suspect and are working to locate the man and lay charges.
