Details

On May 5, 2018 from 3-5 pm, Flow Training Centre is hosting a “Break-a-thon” to raise funds for IJM. For every $20.00 donated, 1 person will break 1 wooden board and all of the proceeds donated will go to IJM. Kids in Squamish have already been gathering pledges through out the community in an effort to support the cause. The event will be held at Flow Training Centre – 38229 Westway Ave.

It is estimated that there are more than 24 million people, both adults and children, in our world today living in some form of slavery. International Justice Mission (www.IJM.ca) is an organization that investigates, rescues, and rehabilitates victims of oppression. They also have lawyers and police officers that help prosecute the criminals who have broken the laws and mistreated these slaves.
At the event, we estimate approximately 200 boards will be broken using various Taekwondo techniques including hammer fist, spin hook, and flying side kicks by kids who train at Flow Training Centre.

This year’s theme is “Kids Helping Kids”. As a result, majority of the money raised are by Squamish kids who want to help less fortunate kids in other countries.

Our goal is to raise, $4,000 to donate to IJM, which currently has ongoing operations in Cambodia, the Philippines, Thailand, India, Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, Zambia, Bolivia, Ecuador, Guatemala, the Dominican Republic and Peru. With the dollars that are raised, IJM investigators, lawyers and social workers are able to intervene in individual cases of abuse.
