If you’re interested in serving your community as a volunteer firefighter, recruitment is now underway for Squamish Fire Rescue and the first information session is tonight.

The information session takes place at Fire Hall No.1 at 37890 Clarke Drive, Squamish at 7pm. A second session will take place at the same time and location on October 6th.

Fire Chief Bill Stoner says this year they’re really looking for members in the southern end of town in the Fire Hall No.1 area.

Interested volunteers would have to undergo a training program that runs for approximately six months, with one day and one night a week commitment. Once training is completed, long term commitment is one night a week, responding to calls, plus any other training that may come up.
