Squamish RCMP say an early morning robbery took place in downtown Squamish today.

Staff Sargent Jolaine Percival of the Squamish RCMP says a middle aged female from Squamish attempted to obtain money from the 7-Eleven and McDonald’s downtown, at approximately 4:00 a.m. this morning. Percival says the suspect claimed to have a weapon, however this proved false.

The suspect had already fled the scene when police arrived, but thanks to their quick response and with assistance from the Police Dog Service from West Vancouver the suspect was arrested at a downtown residence.

Percival says witnesses to the robbery said the suspect showed signs that they may have been impaired by drugs at the time. Charges are pending.
