You read that correctly. A sweet 5-year-old girl set-up her homemade lemonade stand, as many of us did when we were kids, and she was slapped with a £150 fine. (approx $244 CDN)

What is the world coming to?

The little girls’ father wrote an article in The Telegraph, which quickly prompted an apology.

A council spokesperson later commented: “We are very sorry that this has happened. We expect our enforcement officers to show common sense, and to use their powers sensibly. This clearly did not happen. The fine will be cancelled immediately and we have contacted Prof Spicer and his daughter to apologise.”
