The annual volunteer firefighter recruitment program returns for another year on August 30th.

The event will kick off with an open practice between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. at the baseball field parking lot at Brennan Park Recreation Centre. The practice will feature auto extrication, aerial ladder drills and a firefighter survival course. The public is invited to attend the behind the scenes look at firefighter training.

In addition to the kick off event, an open house and recruitment information session will also be held on October 1st at Hall 1, and there will also be an information booth at the Brackendale Fall Fair on September 9th.

Training for the volunteer department requires that you are a full time resident of Squamish, participation in the 5 month recruit program and a 3 year commitment, with no cost to attend training. You can find more details on the Squamish Fire Rescue recruitment drive here.
