Registration is now open for the Squamish Off Road Triathlon that returns in 2018 on June 24th.

Organizers of the event say the 2017 event was the first year in an ‘off-road’ format and that it was a big success. 2018 will be an Official Age Group World Championship Qualifier for the 2019 ITU Multisport World Championships, where qualifiers will represent Canada in Spain. The qualification is in Cross Triathlon with 1 spot per age group, per gender available.

Next year’s race will take place at Alice Lake Provincial Park where there will be a Sport category (750 metre swim, 12.5 kilometre bike, 5 kilometre run), a Championship category (1.5 mile swim, 25 kilometre bike, 10 kilometre run), and a Relay option for those wanting to try a single component of the event or for those wanting to put together a team.

The event was originally a road event, but switched to off-road in 2017 and is held as a tribute to the memory of Squamish resident Bob McIntosh, an internationally accomplished triathlete. The event raises funds for the Robert W. McIntosh Memorial Scholarship Fund which awards a scholarship annually to a Howe Sound Secondary graduate who displays excellence in athleticism, academics and citizenship.
