A Wildlife Alert has been issued in Squamish due to coyote and wolf activity along a local trail system.

The District of Squamish, Conservation Officer Service and Wildsafe BC who collectively issued the alert say wolves have been actively hunting within the Ray Peters Trail network in Brackendale. The officials say coyotes and pups within the area have also been sighted. Dogs have been stalked, and there are concerns that injuries may result if a conflict arises.

While there is no reason to believe that people are at risk, trail users should use extra caution and avoid the area entirely if you have dogs. Caution should also be exercised at all entrance points within the Ray Peters trail system as wolves have a large hunting area.
