A promising professional snowboarder and skateboarder has been caught in an avalanche in the Whistler Backcountry.

American Brock Crouch was filming near Whistler over the weekend when he was swept down in an avalanche after a cornice broke off, according to snowboarder John Jackson who was with him.

The 18 year old was buried for 4 or 5 minutes before the rest of his team could get him out. Jackson said on social media that the whole crew performed a rockstar rescue.

Crouch’s brother, professional golfer Mike Glennie says he broke his back (T12-L1-L2), lost some teeth and injured his face after he was pulled off the 80 foot cliff.
