Two Squamish residents are missing on Vancouver Island.

RCMP in Ucluelet say 37 year old Daniel Archbald and 43 year old Ryan Daley were on a sailboat that docked in Ucluelet on May 13th, and that the pair were last seen leaving the harbour by land on May 16th.

They have not had any contact with family and friends since that date and have now been reported missing to police. The two had been sailing for weeks with infrequent communication prior to arriving in Ucluelet. Communication was not expected for several days after they were last heard from. Family of the men believe they may have been headed to a residence in Jordan River, B.C.

Archbald is described as a 37 year old male, with strawberry blonde short hair and stubble on his face, with an average build. He was last seen wearing a grey fleece long sleeve top, green pants and flip flops, and was carrying a large “dry bag”. Daley is described as a 43 year old male with short dark hair and was wearing a grey ball cap with black logo, white t-shirt, dark pants possibly jeans, shoes. He was carrying a yellow/green backpack and a large white with black accents duffel bag.

Family of the missing men have setup both a GoFundMe account and a Facebook page with more information as it comes in. The page called ‘Find Dan and Ryan’ says that Search and Rescue has now been activated to assist in the search.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ucluelet RCMP detachment at 250-726-7773.
