A Squamish brewery has won another award for their beer.

Backcountry Brewing tied first place with Riot Brewing at the BC Speaker’s Choice Beers for 2018/2019.

The inaugural event was held at the Provincial Legislature at the end of October as part of BC Craft Beer Month, and saw 12 breweries from across the province sampling their beer for MLAs and members of the press gallery.

Backcountry has been racking up awards since opening in early 2017 and the brewery’s Ben Reeder says they have just been doing what they do; “we just kind of put our heads down in the light of competition and work and try and just do what we came here to do which is make fantastic beer”.

The brewery poured Dead of Night Galaxy IPA and Maple Bay Fresh Pale Ale for the politicians at the event. “It’s a great feeling to be appreciated by the government, it doesn’t always happen, so you know, we’ll take what we can get” said Reeder.
