Two local organisations have received $175,000 of funding from the CEO of Whistler’s mountain resort.

Vail Resorts’ CEO, Rob Katz and his wife Elana Amsterdam, have made significant contributions totaling more than $2 million to support emotional wellness programs in nearly every mountain resort community in which Vail Resorts operates.

30 grants were issued by the Katz Amsterdam Charitable Trust and will benefit those seeking mental and behavioral health support across North America.

Katz says it’s their hope that the grants will help improve access to much-needed services around mental health and substance abuse and reduce the stigma and misunderstanding around these issues to encourage more people to get the help they need

The Whistler Community Services Society received $100,000 to expand outreach, behavioral services and its stigma reduction campaign.

$75,000 was also given to the to Sea-to-Sky Community Services Society for post-partum peer support groups and their Men’s Counseling Assistance program.
