Vancouver Island couple Paul Lewis and Julie Gervais are making the most of all the fresh snow this week! The couple spent hours on Monday night building what they would call “home” for the next two nights… An epic Igloo!!

Starting around 11 p.m Monday night, the couple used shovels, tools and bottles of wine to build their masterpiece; finishing the igloo at around 3 a.m. Tuesday morning.

They made an awesome team. Julie would get water from inside to soak down the snow which Paul would use to fill a recycling box that made a perfect square for ice bricks. Paul estimates they used more than 100 ice bricks to make the igloo.

Using a solar patio light and tealights lined inside to light the igloo, a couple comforters and a bottle of wine along with a propane fireplace aimed inside the door, the pair spent a comfortable two nights in the ice house.

Paul said they had a fantastic time. “We stayed in it 2 nights in a row, watched a movie and music videos last night.. and danced outside in the snow by the fire”

Paul’s next project was going to be building a 10 ft ice polar bear but that “unfortunately fell over just as I was putting the finishing touches on it.. so sad.”

Check out the awesome pictures of their temporary winter home!
