If Jamie-Lynn Spears can do it, so can Britney Spears – and she’ll probably make more money along the way, too!

It’s been reported that Britney has landed a $15 million deal to tell her side of the story in a new tell-all book.  According to Page Six (who first reported the news), they claim this story has been confirmed by ‘sources close to Britney.’  If factual, this book deal comes months after her 13-year conservatorship ended and the release of Jamie Lynn’s memoir, Things I Should Have Said.

Jamie Lynn’s memoir sparked a major, public feud between herself and Britney, which led Britney’s attorney to issue a ‘cease and desist from referencing Britney derogatorily,’ “We write with some hesitation because the last thing Britney wants is to bring more attention to your ill-timed book and its misleading or outrageous claims about her.  Although Britney has not read and does not intend to read your book, she and millions of her fans were shocked to see how you have exploited her for monetary gain. She will not tolerate it, nor should she,” the attorney’s letter read.

The letter also read, “Britney was the family’s breadwinner and she also otherwise supported you. Publicly airing false or fantastical grievances is wrong, especially when designed to sell books. It is also potentially unlawful and defamatory.”

During this time, Jamie Lynn’s attorney called the cease-and-desist’ letter ‘inflammatory and disappointing’ and, “Fails to specify any legal wrongdoing whatsoever.  Had you taken the time to read the book prior to sending your letter, you would know that the book is not about Britney, but instead about Jamie Lynn’s own experience.”

Prior to the release of Jamie Lynn’s book, Britney hinted that she might be writing her own book.  She posted a photo of a typewriter on Instagram and in the caption wrote, “Shall I start from THE BEGINNING???”
