The LGBTQ advocacy group GLAAD just released the nominees for its annual GLAAD Media Awards, which celebrate queer talent in the entertainment industry. There are two major music categories, and 20 openly queer artists received nods. Competing for Outstanding Music Artist are: Miley Cyrus, Janelle Monae, Boygenius, Billy Porter, Sam Smith, Troye Sivan, Brandy Clark, Kim Petras, Renee Rapp and Victoria Monet — all of whom released albums in 2023. The category for Outstanding Breakthrough Music Artist features Chappell Roan, David Archuleta, Fancy Hagood, G Flip, Ice Spice, Iniko, Jade LeMac, The Scarlet Opera, Slayyyter and UMI. The two GLAAD Media Awards ceremonies will take place in Los Angeles on March 14 and in New York City on May 11.
