Whistler-Blackcomb has once again been named one of Canada’s Top Employers for young people.

The annual competition is judged by the editors of ‘Canada’s Top 100 Employers’. Organizations honoured are chosen based on the availability of benefits, training, mentorship, co-op or work-study programs and the ability to attract and retain younger employees.

The company says they travel across the country working with high schools, universities, colleges and local First Nations communities to place students in positions throughout the organization.

In a statement Whistler-Blackcomb Vice President of Employee Experience Joel Chevalier says; “One of our goals when hiring young people is to ensure they have a chance to grow within our organization”. The company says one department that is seeing growth is the culinary program developed by Whistler-Blackcomb’s Executive Chef and Recruiting department. Their goal is to have three apprentices in each level of the program, every year, in an effort to grow talent from within the organization.

2017 is the sixth year in a row that the resort has been named one of the top employers for young people. The average age of the company’s employee base is 32, with the highest frequency being 23. Employees at the resort range in age from 15 to 90.
