Whistler Blackcomb has made changes to their recently unveiled 2017/18 passes, following backlash from local pass holders.

Previously the company had announced the new pass lineup without the usual Parent Pass, a pass that could be used by either parent to accompany their children to the resort. The change comes after what Dave Brownlie, Chief Operating Officer at Whistler Blackcomb describes as “very articulate, very rationale and certainly very compelling” feedback from guests.

Brownlie says as a result of the feedback, the organization is now offering two adult passes for the same price as a Parent Pass last year – $1,439. “We’ve taken that feedback and listened…we want to make sure we do the right thing” says Brownlie.

The offer is only available to those who had a Parent Pass last season (2016/17) and there is no certainty it will be available after the 2017/18 season. The company says they will be assessing their programs and what they need to do for the future.

Local resident Taylor Wood who started a Facebook group called ‘Bring Back The Parent Pass’ says the news is a great first step, but that it doesn’t fill the gap created by discontinuing the pass for future seasons.

Those purchasing passes for the upcoming season will also notice that passes are listed in U.S. and Canadian dollars, that is because the organization is transitioning all of their products to Vail Resorts’ U.S. system. Guests should be mindful of the conversion rates when purchasing passes.
