About Ron Anderson:

Ron Anderson passed away on August 2nd, following a two-year battle with cancer. Ron Anderson was a member of the Chamber Board for a total of 22 years, during which he served in nearly all executive positions, including as President for four terms. He was first elected to the Board in 1990, and immediately took on chairing a committee for Transportation, Highways and Waterfront Development – themes of ongoing concern for the Chamber in which he would make significant contributions over the years. Ron always strongly promoted the Chamber’s active involvement in the community. Ron was confident in the ability of people to find civil dialogue, even amidst controversies and challenges that arise in a growing community. As a community leader he would remind all about the wealth of experience and knowledge possessed by both old-timers and newcomers, and of the strengths and opportunities in working as a single team. Ron Anderson’s dedication, integrity, professionalism and leadership in many community endeavors were recently acknowledged in his receiving the Chamber’s (Bill Manson) Citizen of the Year Award in 2015. A very active citizen to the end, Ron Anderson will be well remembered for his contributions to the Chamber and the community of Squamish over three decades. Each year Mr. Anderson’s wife, Debbie Anderson, and kids join as participants of the Golf Tournament to celebrate.
